I graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma City University School of Law as a Merit Scholar. During my time in law school, I received CALI Excellence Awards for achieving the highest grades in Civil Procedure I, Legal Research and Writing II, Trial Practice, and Corporations law. I was chosen as a Staff Editor for the Oklahoma City Law Review and was inducted into several honor societies, including Phi Kappa Phi and the International Legal Honor Society of Phi Delta Phi. My experience was further enriched by interning at various law firms and serving as a judicial extern for the Chief Judge of the Oklahoma County District Court. Before entering the practice of law, I served as a commissioned police officer. My roles varied from patrol duties to investigations. As a detective, I focused on investigating crimes against children, including child homicides. This role taught me to manage complex investigations and equipped me with invaluable skills that I utilize in my legal practice today. During my service, I received numerous commendations, including a Life-Saving Award for rescuing a man from a burning car and the Medal of Honor, the department's highest mark of distinction, for my actions during an officer-involved shooting. I was also honored with the Committee of 100's H.K. "Tony" A Calvert Award for bravery. After dedicating over a decade to the force, I retired at the rank of Detective Sergeant and partnered with Les Bennett to establish Bennett Vernier. I hold a bachelor's degree in Politics and Law from Southern Nazarene University.
