Samantha Pennington Available Now

Samantha D. Pennington has extensive work experience including handling a plethora of challenging estate planning and family law matters. Her education began with her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the Chicago John Marshall Law School in 2009. She continued her legal education at John Marshall and, in 2010, earned a Legum Magistra (LL.M) in Tax Law, with an emphasis in estate planning. Prior to law school, Samantha spent three years working as a paralegal in employment discrimination and products liability. While in law school, Samantha earned several awards and recognitions including; being hand selected as an LL.M student to serve as teaching assistant to Professor Barry Kozak where she taught JD candidates; earning a CALI Award for excellence in Partnership Taxation; and winning second place overall, second best brief and second best oralist in the Mugel National Moot Court Competition in Buffalo, New York. While earning her J.D., Samantha clerked at the Chicago based firm, Kamerlink, Stark, McCormick and Powers, where she developed extensive experience in divorce and custody cases. While earning her LL.M, Samantha served as a legal extern with the Illinois Department of Revenue where she assisted the Illinois Associate General Counsel with individual and estate income tax matters. In 2009, Samantha joined the prestigious in-house tax counsel team at the Chicago based Fortune 500 national energy company, Integrys Energy Corporation. While with Integrys, Samantha focused on areas of business law and honed specialized skills in strategy and planning as well as audit protection in federal and multi-state corporate, partnership and limited liability company taxation.
