Ron was raised in Gaston County. He is a graduate of North Gaston High School and UNC Charlotte. He earned his law degree from The Charlotte School of Law. Ron currently lives in Belmont, NC with his wife and two children. After graduating from law school, Ron founded The Law Offices of Ronald J. Shook where he advises clients on all aspects of criminal defense including DWI/DUI and traffic law. Additionally, Ron is recognized as an authority in the area of Second Amendment law and gun rights. Over the course of his career, Ron has represented thousands of clients and tried hundreds of cases. Ron is a frequent guest on local and state media outlets where he provides insight into current legal events. Ron was named a SuperLawyers "Rising Star" from 2021-2024 and has been recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal as a "Legal Elite" in 2023-2024. Additionally, Ron regularly teaches continuing education classes to other attorneys in the areas of DWI defense and Second Amendment law.
