The vast majority of his legal career has been spent representing individuals and small business owners in myriad types of civil cases, with a brief stop-over at a Dallas insurance defense firm. Although it feels like a lifetime ago, while in law school, he interned with Hon. Jay Patterson, then judge of the 101st District Court in Dallas. ? Personal A native of northeast Iowa, Monty has been married for over 20 years to his wife Sonya, an assistant principal in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district. They have two children, one out using a doctorate in microbiology at Texas A&M and another pursuing undergraduate degrees in English and Education at the University of North Texas. Monty is a real estate investor, an able-handed do-it-yourselfer, an active reader (with a keen interest in the U.S. colonial period), and an avid sports fan.
