Matthew Mitchell Available Now

With more than 30 years’ experience practicing law, Matthew E. Mitchell, Esq., Senior Counsel in the Buffalo office of Tully Rinckey PLLC, has defended individuals, municipalities, and businesses in civil cases across New York State and Massachusetts. He has represented a variety of clients, including Consolidated Edison in multi-million dollar property damage cases, AMF Bakery Systems in asbestos litigation, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Institute in employment matters. Matt has also defended individuals and corporations through their insurers, from auto accident personal injury claims to Superfund cost recovery actions. He has provided coverage opinions interpreting provisions of a variety of policies, including comprehensive general liability, environmental, and builders risk. Matt has a Masters Degree in Environmental Law and Policy from Vermont Law School. He has extensive experience in assisting property owners in negotiations with state and local officials for the remediation of oil and hazardous materials releases on their properties, and in the sale and purchase of "brownfields" properties. He also has provided guidance to clients seeking wetlands permits from state agencies and municipalities, including for the reconstruction of waterfront homes damaged or destroyed by coastal storms. Matt served on the Town of Scituate, Massachusetts Conservation Commission for two (2) years. He currently lives in his home town of Buffalo, New York, where he coaches youth lacrosse, and participates in various fundraising activities for individuals in need.
