Matthew Barbero Available Now

My name is Matthew Barbero and I'm a criminal defense and traffic attorney and I am also the owner of Legal Defense Center, a criminal and traffic law firm located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I grew up in Westchester, New York. I used to regularly do stand up comedy while I was living in New York. I also used to do comedic acting and improv as well as script writing. I am a fantastic public speaker and orator. I was very good at chess when I was younger and I got a job as a chess tutor when I was in college and before I began law school. I am quick on my feet. I’m able to look 20 steps ahead. I love speaking to a crowd. I eventually left New York to move to Washington DC for law school. I received my law degree at George Washington University Law School, which was nationally ranked as a top 25 law school during both the year that I was accepted as well as the year that I graduated. I met my wife Stephanie while I was still in law school and we decided to settle down in Virginia. I passed the Virginia Bar and began immersing myself in Criminal Defense work right away. At some point I began working in private practice at the Hunter Law Firm, where I did Criminal Defense and Traffic Defense and DUI/DWI Defense. Within 4 months of working there I won a jury trial where the client faced three charges which could have cumulatively resulted in a life in prison sentence; one of the charges was dismissed at the Motion to Strike, and the jury found the client not guilty on both of the two remaining charges. During my years practicing at the Hunter Law Firm I was personally mentored by Thomas Hunter, the owner of the firm. I then decided that it was time to own my own firm, and that is exactly what I am doing. I currently own Legal Defense Center.
