I assist clients with assessing their personal goals with regard to the management of their assets during life and the transfer of assets upon death. This assistance includes the preparation of Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, Health Care Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, and related documents. Of particular importance is planning for the transfer/distribution of retirement accounts and IRA accounts to children and/or grandchildren while minimizing the income tax burden association with such accounts. In addition to estate planning, I assist clients with Medicaid & VA planning including the establishment of Medicaid qualifying trusts and trusts that qualify for the VA Aid & Attendance benefit. I assist families with the preparation, filing and oversight of Medicaid and VA benefit applications. I guide families through the probate and estate administration process after the death of a loved one. If a trust has been established, I guide families through the trust administration process. In the case of an individual who is unable to manage his or her financial or health care matters, I assist families with obtaining a guardianship if needed. Having begun my career as a tax attorney, I continue to assist clients with the choice of entity when starting a business as well as ongoing business matters such as buy sell agreements, employment agreements, asset/stock purchases, leases, and general corporate compliance matters.
