Attorney Emily K. Walker earned her Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in 2008 and was admitted to the Michigan State Bar in early 2009. Prior to law school, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Detroit Mercy with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and was awarded the prestigious Insignis Full Academic Scholarship. Emily is a seasoned Social Security Disability attorney with over 15 years of experience in the area of Social Security Disability. Known for her meticulous legal acumen and compassionate client-centered approach, she has successfully represented thousands of claimants across Michigan and beyond, earning a reputation as a skilled, determined, and empathetic advocate within the disability law community. During law school, Emily served as a student advocate at the Free Legal Aid Clinic, representing clients from underserved communities in Detroit. She was later elected as a Litigation Supervisor, where she trained and mentored fellow student attorneys while overseeing client casework. After her admission to the State Bar of Michigan, Emily was hired by a nonprofit law firm providing free civil legal assistance to low-income individuals and seniors across Eastern Michigan. This work deepened her commitment to serving vulnerable populations. She later continued her focus on disability law, representing over a thousand claimants in Social Security hearings as the sole Michigan-based attorney for a large national firm, further honing her skills in advocacy and case development. She was subsequently employed by the Social Security Administration as an Attorney Adviser.
