About Casey Hoyer
I grew up in a small farming community in Oregon, where neighbors truly cared for one another, and values like honesty, integrity, and hard work were deeply important. I feel equally at ease talking with a farmer as I do with a judge or legislator. I believe in the importance of being able to laugh at ourselves, and I often do, but I also see the legal profession as a noble and honorable calling to serve. Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, and Abraham Lincoln all shared one thing in commonβthey were lawyers. I view lawyers as the frontline defenders of the Constitution and the rule of law.
I attended Brigham Young University-Idaho before serving a two-year LDS church mission in Auckland, New Zealand, and the Cook Islands. Later, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Oregon. In 2003, I graduated with my Juris Doctorate from Willamette University College of Law, the oldest law school in the Western United States, founded in 1842. I am licensed to practice law in Utah.
Since 2003, I have worked in a general law practice, served as a legislative lobbyist, and held the position of Administrative Law Judge. My years of experience in the legal field, combined with my understanding of court procedures and familiarity with attorneys and judges in Utah, set me apart from many other legal practitioners in the state.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our six children. I have served my community through two elected terms on a local City Council and as a Junior High football coach in the Lehi Youth Football League. In my free time, I enjoy serving in my church, watching college football, and hunting.
