I am currently Of Counsel at Degan Blanchard & Nash in New Orleans, Louisiana, having joined the Appellate Section in July 2023. In my role, I manage appeals and writ applications at both state and federal levels for insurance defense clients. My duties encompass researching and drafting motions, briefs, oppositions, and replies, as well as successfully arguing for appellate relief for our clients on complex insurance defense matters. Before my current role, I was employed at Hebbler & Giordano, LLC in Metairie, Louisiana, from August 2020 to July 2023. As a Briefing Attorney, I researched and drafted over 150 motions for summary judgment, achieving a success rate of 95%. I also successfully handled 25 exceptions and 10 supervisory writs and appeals to the First and Fifth Circuits. My responsibilities included communicating with professionals to support motions and reporting to clients, as well as providing notarial services, including Remote Online Notarizations. Prior to joining Hebbler & Giordano, I held the position of Administrative General Counsel at the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal in Gretna, Louisiana. Before retiring in July 2020, I advised the Judges of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal on administrative matters, particularly concerning election challenges and public records requests. I also acted as a liaison with the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office on special matters. Additionally, I was the Senior Research Attorney for Chief Judge Chehardy, where I researched and drafted appellate opinions and supervisory writ dispositions on civil and criminal matters. In that capacity, I collaborated with other research attorneys daily and coordinated and presented continuing legal education training monthly. I am a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and New Orleans Bar Association. I also serve as an Assistant Bar Examiner for the Louisiana Supreme Court's Committee on Bar Admissions.
