Raised on Hilton Head Island, I have had the pleasure of calling the area home for over 30 years. Practicing in the areas of Family Law, Estate Planning, and Tax and Business, I strive to help clients proactively plan for problems before they arise. I use an educational approach to help clients understand the law as it pertains to their situation or question, and then empower them to make the best decision for themselves. I bring the experience of working with clients from all walks of life. Having started my career with a non-profit law firm, I understand the needs and issues which face those who have very little resources. Having worked in private practice in one of the wealthiest areas of South Carolina, I understand how the wealthy think. With this experience, I bring patience, gratitude and understanding to the needs of my clients and seek to help them overcome their problems in realistic but satisfying ways. With this understanding, I strive to practice in a way where my clients have a very clear understanding the costs of my service up front. I try to introduce flat fee billing whenever appropriate and I find clients are happier with this approach. Having a client who is free to call or email me without worrying about increasing their bill results in a better experience overall for everyone. Otherwise - I received my undergraduate degree from University of South Carolina, and my law degree from Charlotte School of Law. I am barred in the United States Tax Court. I am in the 2020 Hilton Head - Bluffton Chamber Leadership Class. I have given many presentations on divorce and estate planning as a Staff Attorney in Greenville and as a solo-practice attorney here in the lowcountry. I do free tax preparation with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and am upcoming Co-chair for the SC Young Lawyer's Division in that area. I am a US Coast Guard licensed Captain, and love this beautiful area.
